THE VIA LUCIS:
A MEDITATIVE JOURNEY CELEBRATING THE RISEN CHRIST
The Via Lucis is an Easter devotional series celebrating the resurrection of Christ. This new devotion aims at helping the faithful follow Christ and his disciples from Resurrection morning to Pentecost. We invite you to join us on this meditative journey and pray for our missionaries throughout the process.
You’ve probably heard of the Via Crucis, the Way of the Cross, or the Via Lucis Paschal Way of Light which many Catholics pray each Friday during Lent, and especially on Good Friday. The Via Lucis, or Way of Light, is a relatively new devotion that aims at helping the faithful follow Christ and his disciples from Resurrection morning to Pentecost. Instead of carrying or meditating on a cross, during the Via Lucis, we recommend using a candle or icon of the Resurrection to aid in your prayer.
The Church encourages all of us to celebrate the Easter resurrection season with just as much fervor (if not more) than we celebrated Lent. Unfortunately, many Catholics are unaware that unique devotions exist for the 50 days of Easter. We’re happy that we can provide you with a beautiful way to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus, which “confirms that God’s goodness conquers evil and love conquers death.” (Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI)
