Bring Water and Education
to Laminia, Senegal
Poverty and lack of education keeps girls from thriving
MercyWorks missionaries have opened a school to teach, feed, and nurture these girls, so they can help end cycles of generational poverty.

Phase II: Scholarships for the Girls of Laminia
Access to clean water and access to education are deeply connected. Thanks to God’s provision and the generosity of our donors, Phase I is complete: there is a well in the center of Laminia, and families are drawing clean, reliable water every day. Young girls no longer need to spend hours walking for water—they can now spend that time in school.
We must raise scholarship funds to send the girls to school. A $150 scholarship covers:
- tuition
- uniforms
- transportation
- meals
- school supplies
Our goal is to send 100 girls to school within the next year. To do this, we need to raise $15,000 to cover the school year. With your support, we can help open the classroom doors for the girls of Laminia.
Looking Back and Pressing Forward
For generations, the girls of Laminia have carried the weight of survival: Walking miles each day for water, sacrificing the chance to sit in a classroom, and often stepping into adult responsibilities long before their time.
Now, thanks to Phase I of this project, the newly built well at the center of the village ensures that these girls no longer need to exchange precious time in a classroom for basic survival for their families.
What began with an Easter goal of $2,500 grew into more than $16,000 in gifts, enough to complete the well in Laminia and give the community reliable access to clean water.
With this vital need met, the next step is clear: opening the door for them to attend school.
Please help us by donating to provide a scholarship for a young girl in Laminia!
Looking to the future filled with hope, the next phase of this mission aims to raise $15,000 to meet our goal to send 100 girls to school within the next year. With just $150 per student, each scholarship provides tuition, school materials, transportation, food, and a uniform, removing the barriers that have kept so many out of the classroom.
With your generosity, you can be the reason a young girl finally attends school. You can be the reason she has the time and energy to focus on her studies, a clean uniform to wear, a desk to study at, a lunch to eat, and the chance for a brighter future. You can help break the chains of generational poverty. This mission is vital, and we cannot do it without you.
