Japan
While fostering a knowledge and an interest in Japan’s religious traditions, Missionhurst aims to journey with young people in school and youth movements. Missionhurst hopes to discover with them their possibilities and to provide them with an understanding of Missionhurst’s vision as a source of existential answers.
Kabundi recounts a personal experience with the devastating effects of the horrific “Tohoku Earthquake” of March 11, 2011. This massive earthquake killed upwards of 20,000 people and left countless more homeless. Matsubara Church, Kabundi’s home church, sent money, clothes, food and other immediate emergency relief to the most affected areas. Despite the need for material assistance, Kabundi found many people simply needed an outlet to express their fears and sorrows. Kabundi considers Missionhurst’s “spiritual accompaniment” as perhaps the “most valuable humanitarian effort.”
